Ruhaan Rajesh, a junior from Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, California, serves as the president of the San Diego Chapter of the Chicago Student refugee coalition. After being given the opportunity to participate in recognizing and supporting the refugee community, he knew he had discovered a cause he was finally passionate about; one that he was determined to pursue. Ruhaan knew this initiative would be perfect in San Diego, as he has first-handedly witnessed the abundance of refugee and marginalized youth his whole life. At Rancho Bernardo High School, Ruhaan yearns to be a participating and considerate student, participating in clubs such as National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, Robotics, and RBHS Helping Hands; additionally, he loves being a part of the Track and Field team. Outside of his school, he loves to share his talent of Piano and explores his enthusiasm for engineering, serving as an intern for BioEngineering at UCSD. In the future, Ruhaan looks to major in the Engineering field, and hopes to keep impacting lives and being an active member of the community
Arthur Yi is a senior at rancho Bernardo high school serving as the treasurer of the Executive Bosrd in the San Diego chapter of the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition (CSRC). When hearing about this initiative through a friend, Arthur was extremely enthusiastic and decided to join, as he had known refugee youth all his life. Arthur plays varsity basketball and is involved with multiple clubs at school including Helping Hands club, a community service club, and RBHS Athlete Wellness Society, a club dedicated to helping athletes with the mental side of sports. He is very excited to be part of CSRC and wants to help bring the good efforts of CSRC to San Diego.
Jaden Simmons is a junior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serving as the Vice President of the Executive Board in the San Diego chapter of the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition (CSRC). Jaden spends his free time volunteering with organizations such as the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation. His goal is to positively impact individuals’ lives in any way, shape, or form. Also, he participates in Track & Field for his school. Once CSRC was introduced to him and their plan on expanding to San Diego, he envisioned being apart of it. He was influenced by direct involvement with youth and their journey to integrate into their community. Jaden is a very devoted member of this project.
Kaleab Betre is a junior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serving as the Secretary of the Executive Board in the San Diego chapter of the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition (CSRC). Kaleab dabbles in a variety of productive activities such as participating in the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation. He is also involved in Varsity Cross Country, Soccer, and Track & Field for his school. When he came across the CSRC, and their plan in adding a chapter in San Diego, he knew he was destined to be a part of it. Moved by the cause and dedicated in aiding the youth integrate into the new community and lifestyle, he is one of the many passionate members of this program.
