I have been a member of the organization from the beginning, and have seen how our work has helped foster a more united community across Chicago. What was initially intended to support newcomer youth in the city, has also grown into a place for life-long relationships between the CSRC members and these young children. For this reason, I strongly believe the CSRC and its mission is crucial for Chicago and the nation to progress to a welcoming environment where youth are encouraged to form strong connections with one another, regardless of their diverse backgrounds."

I was immediately inspired by the mission of this organization and think that the work we do is incredibly important especially considering the current state of our nation. I believe it is essential that we continue to foster a safe environment for refugee students and do all that we can to make them feel welcome. I will never be able to fully understand what refugees have gone through (as I am a third-generation immigrant), but I want to do all that I can to educate myself, learn from their experiences, and have a positive impact on their lives. I truly think that the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition has the capability to bridge communities of people and help create relationships that will last a lifetime."
